A UN summit in New York this week hosted 100 world leaders in an attempt to get them talking before the huge Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen this December, widely accepted as the most important meeting on climate change of all time.
For years they have been talking about climate change, but what action has been taken. Not Enough. Some people still argue that its not even happening, despite the fact that climate scientists no longer deliberate the issue, as it is concluded fact based on actual evidence.
So what progress did we make this week? Well, Not Enough. China kind of said they would do more to reduce their emissions, America said some things and some other people said some things but not much really happened.
So all hope now rests on Copenhagen. Only a global response to climate change will do. Make no mistake that millions of live are at stake. 20 Million people are at risk from Bangladesh floods as sea levels rise and monsoons become more severe. 300,000 people are already killed a year and 300 million are already effected by climate change related disasters. Failure to act will will put a further 4 billion people at risk.
A little less conversation, A little more action please…
