An Open Letter to MTV America

You Suck! What is wrong with you? Are you so out of any creative ideas that all you can come up with is spin offs of your own terrible shows? That wasn’t enough so you decided to take a show based on English youth and make the exact same show with the exact same script but based in America with American actors! Did you get an education?

The main reason Skins was a popular and success show in the UK was because it made a pretty accurate representation of what youths were doing and going through at the time (for the most part anyway). I know. I was there, growing up, whilst it was made. America is a country thousands of miles away, with a completely different country with completely different people living completely different lives. I know, I have been there and I have spoken to the people. You simply cannot tart up an English youths life (that is already out dated I might add) and sell it to American kids. They know what their lives are like, because they are living them!

I have just watched the trailer below, and I am telling you now this is going to suck. Big time. 16-18 year olds in England are totally different to those in the states. We are more intelligent, more independent and more unique that Americans could ever be because of the situation we are in. We don’t have to stay in school until we are 18. Many don’t. I didn’t. We are exposed to so much more than you are in America. We don’t just live in your stupid bubble where you never really appreciate that the rest of the world knows your idiots. That’s right I said knows. It’s not the peoples fault to be fair. You are nice people. It’s just that your society is broken and corrupt and designed to keep you in and the rest of the world out.

Any way what I am trying to say is that America, your system is broken and it’s breaking you and this trash is a perfect example of it.

More Tax For UK Flights

Any frequent flyers out there will know that if you are flying out from the UK, that the cost of your flight will often be consumed by more tax than actual ticket price. But guess what? There will be a further tax hike on flights in force this coming Monday the 1st of November.

Hurray I hear you cry! think of all the lovely things they will spend that tax money on. The fact is the government want you all to stop going on holiday so that you spend all your hard earned cash here in the UK so they in turn get more money out of you. A new tax system will introduce 4 tax bands, A, B, C and D based on distance of travel. D is the furthest distance and will see the largest tax rise of over 50%.

The new Airport Passenger Duty (APD) rates come into force for all routes out of the UK on Monday. The rise in APD has led to travel agents warning holidaymakers to check that advertised travel prices include the new taxes in order to avoid any unwelcome surprises. Many speculate that this increase will make holidays abroad unaffordable for many families next year.

Phil Salcedo, publisher at Travelzoo UK, explains: “The sad fact is that around 30% of the travel deals that we check simply don’t include taxes in the price. This means that, with this new increase in tax, travellers need to be extra wary and make sure the price they expect to pay doesn’t massively increase when they get to a page of taxes. We don’t think this is fair and we won’t feature or recommend deals from any travel company that doesn’t publish taxes and charges up front.”
