In a bid to attract more customers, this beachside paragliding group in Russia flew a donkey along a beach for over half an hour in a bid to attract more customers. This tops the last beach side advertising I saw, where sky writers continuously spray “jesus saves” over beaches in Florida.

This was not going to be easy. In fact if you watch the video below it actually begins to look cruel towards the end, as the weight becomes too strong for him to stand.

But like a true record breaker he battles through, to make a memorable birthday with a crowing achievement of achieving a new world record for most pairs of underpants wore by a person now standing at 215. What a career this boy has ahead for him.

But it is a scam not usually taken up by those who are already rich. The Boss of a prestige car hire company has been caught pretending to be part of the Kuwaiti royal family in an effort to scam more than half a million pounds from unsuspecting victims.

Koroush Pour is not a poor man. He hired his Bugatti Veyron, a Million pound super-car, to the BBC to make some of the most memorable episodes of Top Gear. He has been caught using his car hire firm Swift Hire to steal credit using his customers personal details and sold cars which still had hundreds of thousands of pounds in outstanding finance.

To top it off, he scammed two retired nurses out of their pension funds of over £120,000. He abused their plans to retire in Spain, claiming he could get them a better exchange rate threw his car hire company.

The judge told Pour: “You have not only probably brought shame on your self and your family, but you reduced your own circumstances to one where you are quite unable to live the lavish lifestyle I’m told you were living.” He was sentenced to two years in jail.

The man survived a flight over the Alps inside the undercarriage of a jumbo jet owned by a prominent Arab sheikh.

The flight to London from Vienna in Austria lasted only 1 hour and 40 minutes, which the man spent entirely inside the wheel compartment. The plane was privately owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates.

The stowaway, a 20 year old Romanian man, did not know where he would end up when boarding the plane. Unfortunately for him he ended up in London, England – a country part of the European Union that he could have entered legally. Though, to be fair, he was luck it was not a long haul flight or he surely would have succumbed to the harsh conditions in the undercarriage.

Reports claim around 400 users of the Habbo Hotel virtual hotel have had ‘Significant amounts of virtual property’ stolen, which they have purchased with actual real life money. I hope it wasn’t as expensive as real world furniture. Losers, sorry, Users of the site can create a character for themselves to hang out and chat with friends, take care of virtual pets and furnish their own rooms buy actually paying with real money.

The virtual thieves are thought to have used hoax web pages to acquire user names and passwords. They then signed in under the stolen users details and shifted paid for items such as the furniture to other accounts. Police have already searched homes in 5 Finnish cities (real life homes I presume), confiscating computers and interrogating the occupants. The value of the stolen items has not been defined, but for some users it is thought to be “Significant”.

David O’Connell, said to have a “sexual fetish for women’s clothing” has been sentenced to 16 months in prison after stealing lingerie totalling near £120,000. The 48-year-old had amassed an “Aladdin’s cave” of ladies wear to satisfy his fetish for wearing it himself.

His secret emerged when he was caught stealing some dresses, 3 tops and a skirt from an M&S store in Leicester. Following his arrest police searched his home to find a huge collection of stolen lingerie. His stash included lingerie of all shades and sizes which he had built up over 2 and a half years. Leicester Crown Court heard yesterday O’Connell, a £40,000p.a. finance director, would wear the clothes for sexual gratification.

There were 6,400 items, all of female clothing, all from Marks and Spencer and all brand-new. Many items were the same. The amount was overwhelming. The officers looked in the loft and saw bags and boxes filling one side of the roof. They saw huge amounts of new clothing, much of it with the tags still attached and still on hangers, in wardrobes, boxes and bags.

3 months after he was initially arrested and his haul confiscated, he was caught trying to start a new collection, stealing more lingerie form an M&S in Birmingham. Why he always chose M&S was not revealed.

Government 'Bed time stories' climate change campaignThe “Bedtime Story” campaign, costing the tax payer £6 million has been accused of scaremongering and ‘misleading the public‘. The advert is the first time the government has stated that there is evidence that climate change is man made. This has prompted complaints arguing that there is no scientific evidence of climate change, or that scientists are divided and therefore cannot attribute climate change to human activity. Another complaint called it inappropriate for children because it is “upsetting and scaremongering”

I expect parents dislike this advert because it will leave their children asking questions that they don’t want to answer. I would hardly call this advert shocking or scaremongering for that matter, at least not compared to some other adverts that are allowed to air. The anti smoking campaigns are far more graphic and recently they too are being directly targeted at children of smokers.

Here is the climate change advert in question for you to make up your own mind:

I don’t necessarily support shock tactics as a way to get a point across, but if far more shocking and graphic adverts are acceptable for things like drugs (Example) or speeding (Example), then you cannot treat this climate change advert any differently. This is by far a greater threat to the people of this country and the world, and if that makes you feel uncomfortable then good, so it bloody well should.

Isabel Cosgrove, of the BBC’s human resources department, has complained that she has been banned from sending wreaths and flowers to the families of deceased colleagues:

“I work in BBC People and therefore have to deal with sad situations like the death in service of a member of staff. In these cases, one of the things that helps the family is that the BBC acknowledges its appreciation of the deceased staff member. I think most of us would agree that this is normally shown, amongst cards and letters, by the sending of flowers to the funeral. However, we have been prevented from doing this in the last few situations in Scotland because of the expenses policy. I have been looking at the recently published expenses of the senior executives and note that they have successfully claimed for sending flowers to individuals. How on earth is that possible?”

The outrage comes after the release of BBC executive expenses, including a £100 bouquet of flowers for Jonathan Ross congratulating him on his £18 million contract. The BBC’s chief financial officer Zarin Patel said executives were allowed to buy bouquets to reward the corporation’s ‘talent’. The president’s third wife, former supermodel turned singer Miss Bruni, is often seen arranging big vases of flowers inside the Elysee Palace. Mr Sarkozy was ordered to pay back £12,000 in personal bills which he had put on public accounts.

A Palace spokesman said the flowers bill was now being cut and welcomed the release of the figures as a move towards “transparent government”.

Luckily for comedy’s (and sanity’s for that matter) sake, Chris Davis, a staff writer for the Memphis Flyer noticed the signs outside 2 burger kings in Tennessee and decided to investigate further. Here is a transcript of his phone call with one of the restaurants.

Davis: Hi, I’m calling from the Flyer about your sign. Does Burger King really think global warming is baloney?
BK: [Hang-up]
Davis: [Calling back]: Your sign out front says global warming is baloney.
BK: I don’t see that, sir.
Davis: Well, it does.
BK: I don’t see that sir… I change the signs and that sign’s been up for a week.
Davis: Well, I have pictures that I took this afternoon…So, there’s no question that your sign said it and so did one in Midtown. I want to know if it was on purpose, or if it was a prank someone pulled on you.
BK: Let me get the manager. [several minutes of dead air then the same or very similar voice picks up.]
BK: Who were you holding for?
Davis: A manager, about the sign. I have pictures of the sign and people have called me upset. I just want to know if it’s a mistake or not so I can report it.
BK: Let me go outside and look at the sign and I’ll call you right back. [exchange of contact info]
[Phone rings, Davis answers]
BK: The sign was put up yesterday.
Davis: And it’s not a mistake?
BK: No.
Davis: It reflects the opinion of BK international?
BK: Yes. Would you like to talk to the home office? I can give you a number.
Davis: I’ve got the number, I’ve already contacted them. Thanks.

A couple of days later Davis hears back from someone higher up the food chain at Burger King. Last Friday, he finally received an email from Susan Robison, the vice president of corporate communications at the Burger King Corporation:

This statement ["Global Warming is baloney"] does not reflect a Burger King Corp. (BKC) opinion or view. The two restaurants where these signs appeared are independently owned and operated and were not authorized to display this statement. The signs have since been removed. BKC believes in operating as a socially responsible company and is committed to making a positive impact in the communities where it lives and works.

Someone at Burger King realised that the “global warming is baloney” line didn’t exactly follow the the company’s CEO’s, who believes that climate change is “an overriding issue of importance for the global community, business community and people in general”, as he stated in this short interview conducted at this year’s World Economic Forum.
